OpenVPN Connect

Best free VPN available. No need to watch ads for time limited access, app itself is lite, easy and straight-forward to use. Though the connection speed drops quite a lot even with good line quality profile, this is probably the best free vpn you can get. Also love how simple the UI is. There're no ads bs.

Slows down the internet, even disconnecting from Wi-Fi for some odd reason, and won't let me connect to my car via Android Auto. If I don't pause it regularly, it delays everything, I can't let this bog my schedule down 👎🏽

My review is for use within China, where any VPN has problems from time to time. Others however do not work at all. Partly I had it running and of course the provider you are using constitutes the quality too. At least it was running often in China, what not all vpns, even big and famous ones sometimes can not do.

it seems to work well but I think an upgrade would be something like giving each phone or laptop that uses it a temporary encrypted key. to completely exclude the invasion of any hacker who may be nearby the user.

great interface, but I found some annoying moments. 1 - if the application is not in the foreground, then attempt to connect to vpn server unsuccessful if you click on the button tile in the status bar. It would also be cool if instead of creating a launcher, you could make a server selection for connection with a long click

Really wanted this to work but it wouldn't. i followed all the tutorials and it would connect but would always "hang" indefinitely. almost like it worked 60 percent of the way and then couldn't resolve somehow. Tried tailscale and it worked buttery smooth. I won't give up on openvpn yet, maybe an updated version or some revelation will come to light. Id prefer no middleman and dont want a google,ms, apple id to use tailscale. i really like the self hosting and privacy aspect of openvpn.

You've got some UI bug. After some time when I enter app, server is shown as turned off but it's actually on. Otherwise app simplistic but enough settings. Very useful. If you have proper router you can VPN your home network while keeping it encrypted and secured. But bare in mind speed is severely reduced due to encryption. Still enough to do many things properly.
