Private Internet Access VPN

Unacceptably buggy as of 06/26. I don't have metrics but I have used PIA for 10+ years across platforms. Issues: 1. HEAVY throttling over mobile data (4G & 5G). Dial-up tier video playback on social media. 2. Non-stop connection issues. The connect button is often completely broken, changing servers does not fix this. 3. IP location frequently on a different continent than what it displays

Won't stay connected. I'm on the latest version, and this has been a problem for the last several versions. At least 9/10 times I hit connect, it won't. If it does connect, 9/10 times it disconnects within 10 seconds. I've tried different locations and assisting settings, but it doesn't make a difference.

I've been a customer for several years now, but recently it seems like PIA has started becoming unstable and losing my connection. This is especially apparent with OpenVPN mode and endpoints in the western US. The app seems to disconnect itself randomly in the background and sometimes requires a force stop to get the connection and MACE ad block working again.

PIA constantly, and I mean *constantly*, disconnects without zero warning and won't even tell me I've disconnected. Half the time I have to force close the app and clear cache several times before it successfully reconnects. Whenever it's out and I don't know my connection won't work properly and I'll sometimes miss important notifications or be disconnected in the middle of a call. Don't get PIA, the only reason I still use it is because I'm stuck with a 2 year plan 🫩

I've loved PIA, and it's been great, but recently, it's just dropped. it won't connect on my phone at all. My router is good, phone and connection is good, but it just won't connect. I've gone through changing ports and that whole process, and then tried to do the contact support, which takes me to the self help desk (which I used to change ports, and none of them worked)... please help?

This VPN is excellent. It works better, for me, than any I've tried which is most of those reviewed as best. On one of 6 devices it shuts off but it was my error when I was setting up. Their Customer Service is excellent. It seems like they help before you ask. They have the best server selection of any. With other VPN's, who say they refund, it isn't easy. With PIA, there isn't a need for a refund. You won't want one. PIA is great. Many countries and cities. The US has a huge variety. It works

EDIT 2026/04/14: PIA is now great again. || ORIGINAL: Used to be amazing. But now it randomly disconnects and reconnects constantly. Makes it difficult, especially when you're trying to pay for something with your phone but it just suddenly decides to lose its connection. It's like, you've got one simple job and I bloody paid for this app too. Disappointed.

**Update. I did get the refund. I'm not sure if it was from the bank as I did contact them when I saw the charge, or from them. I canceled them over a month ago. They are still taking money out of my account after they acknowledge the cancelation!! I had this for 10+ years never had an issue. I needed to change my email and after a month never received an email reset. I would not recommend since they are still trying to take money out after they said they wouldn't!!
